I'm actually a bit glad I didn't have tickets - I want to be able to actually listen to everything, without fights breakout out around me and distracting me. I mean, what if the game were this epic - England versus Scotland! come on! - and something distracted you from watching as the snitch was caught? You'd never forgive yourself. At least I wouldn't.
So you lot enjoy it at the game. I'll be listening at my Wireless with a beer and a bag of crisps, not missing a sodding thing.
Ellie, Maisie - come on over if you want to listen too and you can bring friends. We got a nice new wireless set. The signal is perfect.

I've never seen so many aurors in one place, not even at Hogwarts during all that mess, you know? Longbottom's stand is doing excellent business, though, all the people who have to be there, the aurors and charms experts and all, and then all the people who are still coming by just to see. It's not like there's anything to see anymore, and they're still coming. Sodding dolts, really, but apparently they like fresh fruit and vegetables while they look.

So, I spent the last few days loading up boxes in the back of a lorry. Seasonal work, you know. Summer and all. I think I got a bit of sunburn. And I'm writing about it, because I can't seem to think of anything else to say in this sodding journal, but Maisie made me promise that I'd try to write at least once a week so she can keep up with me. El, did she make you promise too?
Also, it's England's year for the Cup, 100%.

The buildings they're putting up, they look ... cold. All the way out there, you know. I wonder who they're going to stick they're for? Maybe another group is coming, like when the other schools came for the tournament.
Has anyone heard anything about the last Quidditch game? It affects who's going to play for the Cup, you know. Hufflepuff doesn't really have a chance, but I'd like to know who I'm rooting for in the game, you know?

Is it just me, or are all of the stations on the wireless complete rubbish?
There's too much static, too. Someone was trying to tune something in on the one in the common room this afternoon, but they weren't making any sense with it. They kept trying to tune in through the static between the stations, and then got upset and started going on about not knowing when it was going to come on again.
When what? I think some people are studying so hard their brains are melting a bit.

Ravenclaw VS Slytherin this weekend. I love Quidditch, but after the way the Claws smashed us during the last game, I'm not really sure I have anyone I can root for! I am not rooting for Slytherin. Fucking Goyle - he's on their team, isn't he? Slytherin sort of smashed Gryffindor too, though, so it'll be a pretty exciting game, at least, I guess. Even if I do have to wear blue.
There was a rumour going around over the holidays that Viktor Krum was going to be coming to help during Quidditch practices, too. When's that starting? Because man, Krum! He's almost as awesome as Oliver Wood, and I think I have something for him to autograph too. Do you think he'd sign my broom?

Audrey! He's awesome! What should I name him? I think I might call him Puddlemere. Maybe just Puddle? Or Wood! What do you think?
Hufflepuffs! I got a kitten - I've never actually brought a pet to school before, or had one, you know. So if you see him around the common room, don't accidentally sit on him or anything.
Best birthday ever, so far. I still don't feel seventeen.

ELLIE! WHAT ARE WE DOING FOR OUR BIRTHDAY!? I think we ought to go to the kitchens again to make Sundaes like we did that one time. Oh! It's just another week until we go to Hogsmeade so we can do something at Hogsmeade for it too.
Do we even get Hogsmeade weekends this year? We didn't last year. Do you think we do? There are tonnes more Aurors around, right, so it would be safer this year. And nothing happened last year anyway, so it's not fair if we still don't get to go.

So, do I have to see if I can borrow dress robes or something in other colours from someone? Julien, are you going? You and I could switch ties or something right and then I'd be in Ravenclaw colours. Unless they have to be dress robes, because no one would want to wear my old ones....
Or can I just go in a red teeshirt or something? Or blue? I didn't get it. And how's it House Unity if we're dressed like different houses? Or is that supposed to be a joke? Anyway, it's a party and it'll be BRILLIANT! Good job, Evie.
We should all go together, all us from 6th form Hufflepuff at least. Evie and me and Ellie and Drew and Audrey. Julien, you could go with us too! What do you guys think?

I can't find my trainers. I bought them less than a week ago and now I think I left them at home. Ellie, did they end up in your trunk by mistake?
Being back sort of bites, doesn't it? I don't even want to think about all that news. Dead - how could he be dead? I missed the food though! The welcoming feast is always just ridiculously posh, right? And the firsties look like they're five years old or something. The staircase moved while we were on the way to the common room and there was this tiny little Muggleborn girl who screamed loud enough she woke up that painting of the bloke with the bunny slippers on the second floor, and I don't think I've ever seen him awake!
Quidditch Tryouts in 24 Days! Countdown begins! This year, I'm definitely making the team, and Hufflepuff is totally going to win the Cup!

It seems like the Prophet writers think that Headmaster Dumbledore is responsible for a lot of stuff - when I went to Hogwarts all I ever heard was how he was the greatest Wizard ever, you know? I still have a frog card I got of him when I was in first year, and ... well, I think the Prophet is sort of full of it.
Dad says someone in the Auror's office was having a fit about a wedding I wasn't supposed to hear him and mum talking about it though - I guess it was the one they talked about in the paper today - Hope everything's okay.

Ice skating with girls is obnoxious when they're your sister, because there were these leechy group of blokes our age who were staring at her and I felt a little bit like I ought to go and punch one of them in the face. El stopped me though.
Won my last football match yesterday - now there's really nothing to do but go back to school. I have to find all my books again. I threw them under the bed too.

Mum's dead serious about us not going to Diagon at all, because Dad had to take a half day today and go and buy our books and things. Usually we'd wait until payday right before we leave, but she was going on and on about how things might be even more dangerous when the Alley is crowded and all.
Anyway, there's a lot of books. Really thick books.
I'm so brassed! I only took History of Magic because Binns didn't care if you slept. Now there's this new Professor? Pittiman? There are TEN BOOKS on his reading list. I haven't read ten books in my whole bloody life. It's as bad as when there was Lockhart my first year, and these books don't sound nearly as interesting, or look anywhere near as easy to read. Who is this new professor anyway?
Also, Ravenclaws are really sodding strange. Riddles? For FUN? What sort of fun is that?
I'm so bloody bored that I even tried to figure them out. They're HARD.

So, I sort of avoided this - by tossing it under my bed - after the owl came from the Headmistress. How wonky is that, seriously? Anyway, I tossed this thing because I thought it was summer work. Speaking of, who's written their summer Charms essay?
Writing in this feels a bit strange. I mean, I know everyone can see and we can keep in touch and what not - I read the instructions for charming it and all - but it still feels like writing in a bloody diary like a little girl, too, doesn't it?
To be honest, I'll probably lose it again. But I'll try not to.
